Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026. This policy applies to the game hosted at larkrealm.com.

Lark is a free browser game. We keep data collection to the absolute minimum needed to run the game and to show ads that keep it free. You never need an account to play, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information unless you choose to sign in (see below).

Your game save

By default, your character and progress are stored only in your own browser (using localStorage) on the device you play on — this data is not sent to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data will delete it. You can export a backup code at any time from the in-game Settings → Backup / Restore.

Optional cloud backup. If you turn on Cloud backup in Settings, a copy of your game save is stored on our hosting provider (Cloudflare) under a random, anonymous key that is generated in your browser — so you can recover your character on another device or if your browser data is cleared. We store only the game-save data; we do not collect your name, email, or any account/personal information for this feature, and the save is accessible only to someone who has the key. It stays off unless you enable it, and you can pause it (or simply stop using the key) at any time.

Optional account (Sign in with Google). If you choose to sign in with Google, we create an account for you automatically and store the basic profile Google shares with us — your email address and display name — together with the link to your cloud save, so your character can follow you to any device. That is all we store: no passwords (authentication happens at Google), no payment details, nothing else. Signing in is never required to play. You can sign out at any time, and your save also remains recoverable with your recovery key as above.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements alongside the game. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, and may process your IP address and device information, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, to measure ad performance, and to prevent fraud.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before personalised ads are served, and you can change your choice at any time.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people play and how they use the game — things like page views, session length, and which in-game milestones players reach. Google Analytics uses a first-party cookie to distinguish visitors and may process your IP address and device/browser information as part of this.

We also run our own minimal, cookie-free analytics beacon that counts anonymous funnel events (like starting a new character or completing a quest) using a random id that lives only in memory for your current tab — it cannot identify you or follow you across visits.

Other third parties

The game loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. Beyond Google Analytics and Google Fonts (and Google AdSense, above), no other third-party services receive your data.

Children

Lark is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. To remove your local save, clear this site's data in your browser. For ad-related data, use the Google and vendor opt-out links above.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected on this page.
