Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Lark and the site it runs on. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. Last updated 24 July 2026.

The short version

Everything below is the longer form of those five points. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

Using Lark

You may play Lark for free, for as long as you like, without creating an account. You may record it, stream it, write about it and publish that material, including commercially.

You agree not to:

Access may be withdrawn if any of the above is happening. In practice this means rate limits and blocks, not lawyers.

Your character and your save

By default your character is stored only in your own browser. Clearing your browser data deletes it, and there is no server copy to restore from. This is described in detail in the privacy policy.

If you turn on cloud backup, or sign in with Google, a copy of your save is stored so you can play on another device. That copy is a convenience, not a guarantee. No promise is made that a save will survive indefinitely, and you are encouraged to export a backup code from the in-game settings if a character matters to you.

Progress can also be affected by updates. Saves are designed to migrate forward and this is taken seriously, but a free game under active development can occasionally change something that affects an existing character.

Advertising

Lark shows advertising to cover hosting costs and stay free. Ads are served by third parties, and their content is not chosen or endorsed by the developer. If you see an ad that is broken, deceptive or inappropriate, please report it via the contact page with a screenshot — that is the fastest route to getting it blocked.

Nothing in Lark is sold. There are no purchases, no premium currency and no paid advantages. Cosmetics are earned in-game and never affect power.

Ownership

The game, its source code, its artwork, its writing and the name Lark belong to the developer. You may not copy or redistribute the game itself, or claim it as your own work.

Screenshots, video and written coverage you produce while playing are yours to use as you wish, including commercially. Lark is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other game or its publisher; it is an original work that takes inspiration from a genre.

No warranty, and limits

Lark is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. It may be unavailable, it may contain bugs, and features may change or be removed. To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site — including lost progress.

Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law where you live.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the game changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
